Art Lessons

I found a really fun book at the library that I want to make my own soon! Discovering Great Artists has lots of ideas for introducing kids to different artists and genres/methods of painting!

Today we read about Giotto and then looked at samples of his art online. Then, we made our own egg tempera paints using crushed up chalk as the pigment. Of course, real colors, such as beetles, minerals, berries,... would work better and make much prettier colors, but this was a fun experience none the same, and they did enjoy crushing the chalk!
